2 New Smart Choices For You To Implement!

2 New Smart Choices For You To Implement!

One of the biggest changes you can make when it comes to losing weight in a safe and sane way is centered around the way you make personal choices.

As a matter of fact, the issue of making changes in your life is almost completely about CHOICE...

Simple, right?

Probably not... but if you really think about it, it's really what it's all about.

Learning how to make healthy choices instead of keeping on with the options and choices that have led you to the overweight place you are right now.

There is nothing wrong with the choices you have made up to this point, and in fact, many people are quite comfortable with their level of health and weight. And that's great! It's YOUR life, YOU decide... Remember this!

If you've come to the point that you are NOT happy with the way you feel or the way you look, and you want to change then learning how to make different choices is a great first step.

When we were growing up, the habits of the people around you, like your parents and your siblings, became your choices in life as well. No blame there, they were only doing the best they could with what they knew how to do. Sometimes, those were the only choices that were available at the time. It’s not like when you are a small child that you are going to tell your Mom that the food she is giving you is not healthy for you. You are pretty much just going to eat it.

Of course, there are always some kids who throw tantrums at mealtimes, but for the most part, you learn to eat what you are given to eat. As a result of this choice on the part of somebody else, you learned that these choices were the correct ones. If those choices included lots of good healthy food, then you probably grew up with a healthy body weight.

But if the food you were provided as a child was high fat, or high calorie or all carbohydrates, then you learned that those were the correct food choice to make.

But now maybe those choices don’t serve you so much anymore.

Time to try out a new set of food choices that can help you in your quest for losing weight. So here are some new options that you can try to help you release some of that extra weight.

New Smart Choice #1

Include some sources of protein with your meals that are NOT beef or pork. Beef and pork are not the horrible bogeymen that they have been made out to be by lots of dieting gurus. But they are usually higher in hard to digest fat than choices like chicken, fish, peanuts or cottage cheese.

Your body goes through different steps to metabolize and release the nutrients in each of those foods. What happens is that the energy and nutrients like amino acids help your body perform well. So you want to eat sources of protein that burn cleanly in your body and have fewer calories.

New Smart Choice #2

At least once a week, try having a meatless lunch and dinner. These two meals don’t have to be on the same day, but they certainly can be. A lot of people have grown up with the idea that if it doesn’t have meat in it, it’s not a meal.

This is just not true...

A meal does not have to include meat and in many parts of the world, meat is served at only one meal and sometimes no meals during the day. Sometimes as little as once a week. Now that doesn’t mean those people are healthier than you, but if you are looking for an easy kind of choice to make in your eating habits, this could be one to try.

There is no reason why you can’t have a meal with whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and legumes.

Legumes are things like beans and split peas. Legumes have a fair amount of protein in them. And if you don’t have things like pork and beans, but instead make your meal of chili beans without meat or something like split pea soup with no ham, you will feel very full. You will get a good nutritious meal and you will have eaten way fewer calories of fat than you would if you had meat.

These choices are actually pretty easy to make in your life, and if you really want to lose weight in a non-suffering way, try a couple of these changes and you will be quite pleasantly surprised with the results.

Cooking Tips and Tricks That every Chef Needs To Know

Cooking is an art by itself. Being able to prepare and serve a sumptuous meal is one of the most satisfying skills you can ever get in life. Most people though they cook, can’t just figure out the nitty-gritty details of being in a kitchen. That’s why it’s important to learn a few critical cooking tips and tricks to help you become a better chef, maybe a professional chef in your own kitchen! It’s not just important to learn them but to take the advice to heart and utilize every detail to ensure you are enjoying your kitchen adventure.

Tip 1: Have all your ingredients prepared, measured and ready before you start cooking.

Cooking is not a marathon, it’s a graceful walk in the park enjoying every bit of it. Whether you are fixing a huge meal or simple dishes for yourself, always have all the ingredients cleaned, peeled, chopped, measured all set up in separate containers before you start cooking. Cooking is highly chaotic if you decide to prepare ingredients as you cook. There are a lot of messes in measuring things out while other ingredients overcook. Take your time and prepare everything that you need well in advance.

Tip 2: To prevent your chopping board from slipping around, place a wet paper towel under it.

A slipping chopping board is very dangerous as it can cause accidents easily in case the knife slips. Be sure that before you start cutting anything, the cutting board is firmly held on the surface. Use the wet paper towel to hold it firmly on the surface to make your chopping or rolling out dough easier.

Tip 3: Do not use butter or olive oil for high temperature cooking instead use an oil with a high smoke point like vegetable or peanut oil.

With all the health talk going around we now think the only healthy way to cook is by using butter. Did they also tell you that butter and olive oil burns very quickly and may actually catch fire when subjected to super-hot temperatures?

These two are known to have very low smoke points, the more reason they burn easily. Use vegetable oil that does not burn and gives food cooked over high heat a good flavor.

Tip 4: Use a teaspoon to easily peel ginger without struggling with a peeler or a knife.

If you wondered why your garlic is getting smaller every time you peel, now you know; you have been wasting too much of it when using a knife or a peeler. Using a teaspoon means you simply run it against the surface to remove the light skin without taking off too much flesh.

Tip 5: Use an oven to cook your bacon rather than a frying pan for perfectly crisp strips.

Bacon is Bae! If you are not eating it, you are missing out on the heavenly meal. Bacon is best cooked in an oven where it easily turns crispy without causing any mess on the stove top. The spattering of the bubbling oil on the frying pan is both dangerous and messy. Save up all your energy to clean up after cooking bacon by simply using 5 minutes of your oven. Surely, it won’t be too expensive.

Tip 6: Store your cut vegetables in cold water to prevent them from oxidizing and turning brown.

Now that we talked about preparing everything in advance before you start cooking, don’t be too diligent!   Don’t leave your vegetables open in a dry space because you won’t like them after that. Potatoes, apples, and avocados are the most common vegetables and fruits that behave in this manner. The number one rule to follow is if they are not ready to be used, don’t cut them too early. Use cold water to preserve them in case they are prepared too early.

Tip 7:   Don’t fall into the temptation of over-mixing your cake batter. Simply give it a quick stir especially when combining wet and dry ingredients.

Even if you woke up on the right side of the bed and you are feeling very generous with your strength, save it may be to give your partner a good massage. Do not even try to fall into the temptation of over-mixing your batter. Just mix them enough to combine the wet and dry ingredients. Overdoing it will give you a chewy end product that is dense and unattractive.
